Procedure for commissioning a portrait
Select photographs that are as at least 3x5 inches in size and as clear as possible. Blurry snapshots are impossible to work from.
Photos can be color or black and white. It is recommended to put your name on the back of each photo. Along with a selected pose, additional photos are recommended and helpful for the artist to use as reference.
An address will be provided to you to send photos or for a faster quote without mailing photos, you may send them as a .JPG to the email address provided.
Through email or by phone, details (size, background, props, ect) will be discussed. A quote will be given and if accepted, a formal contract will be sent to you promptly. The signed contract should be sent back, along with a deposit of 1/3 the total portrait price, and the original photos if they have not been already sent.
Your photos and downpayment will reserve your place on the calendar. Smaller portraits (head and shoulders only) generally take 4-6 weeks, larger portraits slightly longer. An estimated delivery date will be quoted based on the work to be done and existing commissions the artist has scheduled before your portrait. Please consider ordering as early as possible for christmas.
When the portrait is completed a photo will be sent, preferably by email, for you to preview. Adjustments, if needed, will be discussed at this time.
Upon completion of the portrait, the remaining balance should be sent and the portrait will be mailed promptly thereafter. The portrait will be well packaged and insured when mailed and the original photos will be returned also.

Julie is not accepting commissions for oil paintings at this time.
1/3 of total price required at time of commission, this is a nonrefundable deposit. Balance due at the time of completion and complete satisfaction of work. Virginia residents add 4.5% sales tax. Individual estimates given for additional props, backgrounds, mats, frames, etc. Pet portraits priced individually.
